“Corporate governance and strategic leadership has become the centrality of success in both private and public organizations globally, because the success or failure of any organization rests on its leadership.”

She noted that the purpose of corporate governance is to help build an environment of trust, transparency and accountability necessary for fostering long-term investment, financial stability and business integrity that supports stronger growth and more inclusive societies.

Also speaking at the event Auditor General for FCT Area Council,Kudirat Abdul-hamid, explained that corporate governance ensures that the right decisions are taken, implemented and enforced for the benefit of private and public organizations.

On his part a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN),Jubril Okutepa stated that In societies where corporate governance is adhered to,integrity, efficiency and rule of law are the watch words.According to him the promotion of corporate governance in Nigeria is long overdue, and untill private and public organizations imbibe a serious attitude of corporate governance,it will be difficult for them to surmount their challenges.

He added that many industries and companies are collapsing because the basic ethics of corporate governance are not observed,he therefore called on Nigerians to support ICCGLS and advocated that the ethical standards of corporate governance should be taught in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
