The United States has warned that corrupt Nigerian government officials could face visa restrictions.

In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria reiterated that the fight against corruption transcends borders and that accountability applies to even the most powerful.

“Fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability. Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving U.S. visas,” the Mission stated.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Washington has repeatedly emphasised its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
