A Kano State High Court has granted an interim injunction restraining the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) and four other parties from interfering in the internal and external affairs of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano.

Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, of the Kano Judicial Division of the High Court, issued the order while ruling on a motion ex parte filed by the management of the university.

The respondents in the suit include the Kano State Government, the PCACC, the Kano State House of Assembly, the Attorney-General of Kano State, and concerned parents of the institution.

In the ruling dated December 11, 2025, Justice Ma’aji restrained the respondents, either by themselves or through their agents, from inviting officials of the university or interfering in its administrative and academic activities, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

The court further directed all parties to maintain the status quo in relation to the issues between the applicant and the first respondent, pending the determination of the originating summons.

Speaking after the ruling, counsel to MAAUN, Zahraddeen M. Bello, said the decision reaffirmed the rule of law and due process, adding that the university would continue to operate strictly within the confines of the law while the matter is pending before the court.

The matter was adjourned to December 29, 2025, while the order was issued under the hand and seal of the presiding judge and duly endorsed by the Principal Registrar of the court.
