Civil Society Organisations under the aegis of the Civil Society Organisations On Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) have commended the Federal Government and the Presidency for what they described as ongoing security re-architecturing, saying the efforts are yielding positive results across Nigeria.
The group noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu has adopted a proactive approach to security, adding that the supervisory role of the National Security Adviser has contributed to measurable gains, including the dismantling of separatist cells and the disruption of criminal networks.
In a statement signed by its Director General, Kunle Yusuff, CSCHEI said the constant and consistent collaboration between security agencies and the Leadership Council of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in Nigeria has been instrumental in promoting peace, stability and security in the country.
According to the group, CSOs and CBOs continue to play a vital role within local communities by providing grassroots networks, building community trust and offering expertise that support government efforts to address insecurity.
Reacting to the travel advisory issued by the United States on Nigeria, CSCHEI said the development highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing security challenges. The organisation said it appreciates the support from international partners and acknowledged the need for sustained collaboration to ensure Nigeria’s security and development.
The group added that the National Leadership Council of CSOs and CBOs in Nigeria remains committed to working with security agencies by providing credible information, intelligence gathering and operational support aimed at ensuring sustainable security and development.
While noting the public statements on the travel advisory by the United States Embassy in Nigeria, CSCHEI stressed that all Nigerians deserve to live in a secure environment for the betterment of their lives.
The organisation further stated that, as a credible civil society body with grassroots presence in 460 Local Government Areas across 26 states, it could say with authority that pragmatic approaches adopted by security agencies at the local government level are gradually yielding results.
It particularly commended the efforts of the Department of State Security in local government councils, noting that such interventions are contributing to improved security outcomes.
CSCHEI also urged continued support and cooperation among all stakeholders to build a safer and more secure Nigeria, emphasising that government alone cannot solve the country’s security challenges.
The group appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to support governments at all levels in addressing insecurity, describing the task as a collective responsibility that requires broad-based participation.
