Introducing Holiday Goat Meat Stew With Sweet Plantain Mash—a rich, flavourful stew paired with creamy, comforting plantain mash. This dish combines bold Nigerian spices with the warmth of classic comfort food, creating a meal that not only satisfies the taste buds but also fills the heart with joy. Perfect for creating cherished memories around the holiday table.

Recipe: Holiday Goat Meat Stew With Sweet Plantain Mash

Ingredients for Goat Meat Stew:
1.5 pounds of goat meat (washed and cut into chunks)
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
5 large tomatoes (blended)
2 red bell peppers (blended)
1 onion (blended) + 1 onion (chopped)
2 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon of thyme
1 teaspoon of curry powder
1/2 teaspoon of allspice (for festive warmth)
2 bay leaves
1 cup of beef or chicken stock
chicken bouillon and salt to taste

Ingredients For Sweet Plantain Mash
4 ripe plantains
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
A pinch of cinnamon
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Prepare The Goat Meat:
Season the goat meat with salt pepper and chicken bouillon
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil and brown the meat on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Make the Stew:
In the same pot, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
Add the blended tomato and bell pepper mixture, thyme, curry powder, allspice, and bay leaves. Let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
Add the browned goat meat and stock. Cover and cook on low heat for 45–60 minutes or until the meat is tender. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Prepare The Sweet Plantain Mash

Peel and boil the plantains in salted water until soft.
Drain and mash with butter, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy.
Serve
Spoon the rich goat meat stew over a bed of sweet plantain mash. Garnish with fresh parsley for a festive touch.
