Nigerian Customs Service Controller, Kano/Jigawa Command, Muhammad Umar, has confirmed that the command handed over to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), 3,712 seized donkey skins and three 100kg bags of donkey penis in Kano State.

Umar, who disclosed this to Leadership Weekend, said it was sad that donkey species were gradually becoming extinct as people unjustifiably kill the animal for their skins.

He said the killing and trading in donkey skin contravene domestic and international laws.

He added that men of the service had intercepted and confiscated donkey skin as well as donkey penis and arrested four suspects.

He said a major investigation was ongoing on the matter and the service was handing over the seized items to NAQS for safe disposal.

NAQS North- West Zonal Coordinator, Adamu Ocheje, stated that his service had a historic harmonious working relationship with the customs service.
