Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad of Bauchi state has flagged off the distribution of 20,000 Ramadan rice donated to the state by the Aliko Dangote Foundation in collaboration with the state government.

At the ceremony held at Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, the governor commended the Foundation for ths gesture and for consistently demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in Bauchi state.

Represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammad Auwal Jatau, he described the gesture as both timely and commendable as most of the beneficiaries are observing fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, a period that calls for compassion, generosity, and support for one another, especially to the less privileged.

“The Dangote Foundation has over the years shown remarkable dedication to humanitarian causes, and we deeply appreciate its decision to partner with the Bauchi State Government to provide succor to our people at different times, particularly during important periods such as this blessed month of Ramadan.

“This collaboration reflects the importance of partnership between government and the private sector in addressing social challenges and improving the lives of our citizens. The rice palliative being distributed today will go a long way in easing the burden on many households and ensuring that families can observe the fasting period with greater comfort and dignity.

He recalled that, since coming on board in 2019, his administration has been implementing various palliative programmes to cushion the effect of a particular disaster including economic challenges and therefore acknowledged the tireless efforts of the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, which continues to coordinate the distribution of palliatives across the state during every festive period.

“Their commitment ensures that support reaches those who need it most, including the poor, the elderly, widows, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable members of our communities. As we commence this particular distribution exercise, I urge all those involved to ensure fairness, transparency, and proper coordination so that the intended beneficiaries receive this assistance without any difficulty.”

On his part, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, said the initiative is part of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s nationwide humanitarian support programme covering all the 36 states of the federation.

According to her, Bauchi State received 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice, which will be distributed to the beneficiaries across the state.
