Aliko Dangote Foundation has distributed 25,000 10kg bags of rice to 20 local government areas in Bauchi State, as well as to critical stakeholders, privileged and less-privileged members of society.
This gesture is part of the foundation’s efforts to support Nigerians during the Ramadan period.
Group general manager of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr Ahmed Hashim, said this is the second palliative edition, which started last year.
He also noted the foundation’s other interventions, including providing food and medical supplies, building hostels for universities, and contributing to COVID-19 pandemic efforts.
Receiving the rice on behalf of the Bauchi State government, the commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Wanka explained that the allocation considers the Christian community’s observation of the annual Lenten fasting period.
Our correspondent reports that each of the 20 local government areas will receive 500 bags, while 10,000 bags will be allocated to mosques and churches.
