The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointments of Bishop Matthew Kukah as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, and Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.

In a statement yesterday, NCYP chairman Isaac Abrak commended the president, describing the appointments as a landmark achievement for Southern Kaduna.

“As staunch supporters of the President, we use this moment of celebration to assure Mr. President that Southern Kaduna stands firmly with him,” Abrak said.

He noted that Tinubu’s leadership continues to gain widespread acceptance in the region, strengthening political support for his administration.

“We also extend our deep appreciation to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his support in ensuring the realisation of these institutions,” Abrak added.

The group said the appointments serve as a vindication of their decision to support and campaign for Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 general elections, despite opposition from many within the Christian community.

“Today, we stand proud as Southern Kaduna, a predominantly Christian region, rejoices over these landmark achievements brought about by President Tinubu’s visionary leadership,” the statement reads.

The NCYP also expressed gratitude to God for guiding their decision to back Tinubu, insisting that his administration was the right leadership choice for Nigeria at a critical time.

Abrak highlighted that the joy in Southern Kaduna was spreading across Kaduna State and neighbouring states such as Nasarawa, Plateau, and Benue, reinforcing growing support for the President.

The group further commended Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, Hon. Amos Gwamna, and other National Assembly members for their advocacy in establishing the institutions, which they believe will spur growth and development in Southern Kaduna.

In a call for unity, the NCYP urged both Christians and Muslims in Southern Kaduna to respect each other’s religions in the spirit of mutual tolerance.

“Through peaceful coexistence, the benefits of these newly established institutions will be fully realised, fostering progress and unity in our region,” the statement said.
