The Embassy of Denmark in Nigeria has announced that Iyadunni Akinlabi, a staff member of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has received a fully funded scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Food Technology in Denmark.
The announcement, shared via the embassy’s official Facebook page on Monday, revealed that the scholarship was awarded by the Danida Fellowship Centre for Studies at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU). The embassy described the award as a reflection of the strong Denmark–Nigeria Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC), which focuses on strengthening key areas such as agriculture and food safety.
“We are thrilled to announce that Iyadunni Akinlabi, a staff member of NAFDAC, has been awarded a fully funded scholarship by the Danida Fellowship Centre to pursue an M.Sc in Food Technology at DTU in Denmark,” the statement read.
According to the embassy, the achievement highlights the impact of ongoing collaboration between Denmark and Nigeria, particularly through partnerships with institutions like NAFDAC aimed at advancing food safety systems and agricultural development.
The statement further explained that the Master’s programme will equip Akinlabi with advanced knowledge in modern food production technologies and systems designed to ensure safe and healthy food. These skills, it noted, align closely with the shared goal of strengthening Nigeria’s food value chains, including milk production and agribusiness.
“The M.Sc programme in Food Technology will equip Iyadunni with cutting-edge knowledge in modern food production technologies and systems for ensuring healthy, safe food,” the embassy said. “These skills directly align with our shared commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s food value chains.”
The embassy also expressed appreciation to the Danida Fellowship Centre for its continued support in capacity building across Strategic Sector Cooperation countries.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Danida Fellowship Centre for making this opportunity possible,” the statement added. “Congratulations, Iyadunni! Your journey represents the very best of what Denmark–Nigeria collaboration can achieve.”
The embassy concluded by expressing optimism about the impact of Akinlabi’s training on Nigeria’s food safety and technology sector upon her return.
