Darazo Gifted Secondary School in Darazo local government area of Bauchi State has held its maiden graduation ceremony, producing 63 students.
The school, established in 2021 by Hon. Mansur Manu Soro, member representing Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, is one of the Gifted Schools he founded to provide free and quality education to students.
Beyond tuition-free learning, beneficiaries are provided with complete school kits including uniforms, textbooks, shoes, and school bags.
Abubakar Adamu Bako, new media aide to Hon. Soro told journalists yesterday that the lawmaker also ensures that the schools cover the full cost of the National Examinations Council (NECO) final examinations for all graduating students. In addition, each student receives an annual stipend of N10,000 as pocket money.
The ceremony featured outstanding performances by the students, who expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to access free education.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Salihu Idris commended Hon. Soro for his vision and generosity in establishing the schools, which have allowed them to complete their secondary education without financial burden.
One of the parents, Mallam Mohammed Adamu, also praised the federal lawmaker for his remarkable investment in education, describing it as a blessing to the Darazo community and beyond. The event was graced by prominent dignitaries from across the district.
Hon. Soro established four Gifted Secondary Schools, inaugurated by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, in Darazo, Soro, Sade, and Kafin Madaki. He also founded the Special Primary School in Lanzai, a boundary town between Bauchi and Yobe states, dedicated to vulnerable children.
Bako disclosed that another batch of 41 students will soon graduate from Gifted School Kafin Madaki, also established by Hon. Soro in Ganjuwa West.
