Six members of the House of Representatives elected under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Delta State, have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced their defection at the resumption of plenary on Tuesday in Abuja.
The Speaker listed the six members from Delta State as Victor Nwokolo, Julius Pondi, Thomas Ereyitomi, Nicholas Mutum, Ukodhiko Jonathan, and Nnamdi Ezechi.
In their notice of defection, the defected members cited the crisis in the PDP as the reason for their defections.
Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, said that he had no choice but to join the ‘performing governor’ of Delta State to the APC to consolidate progress.
Meawhile, two Labour Party (LP) members of the House from Enugu State moved to the PDP.
Rep. Chidi Obetta, who represents Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency on the platform of LP, defected to the PDP, relying on the opposition party’s “lingering crisis”.
Rep. Dennis Agbo, who represents Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, also said he resigned from the LP due to divisions in the party.
