Delta State Child Rights Implementation Committee has rescued a missing girl, Miss Victory, 17 years old.
It also rescued a young girl of 17 (name withheld), used for house help work by a family residing along Okpanam Road, Okpanam in Oshimili North LGA of Delta State.
The chairman of the committee and permanent secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Kevwe Agas said the girl named, Victory, was found at Ugbolu in Oshimili North Council of Delta State, where she was abandoned by her abductors who claimed they couldn’t use her for rituals because of the mark on her body.
LEADERSHIP gathered that when the news of the missing child first broke, committee members swung into action by making contacts and reaching out to their strategic security partners to help find the girl. The committee was happy to learn that the girl had been found.
Similarly, several complaints got to Mrs Agas on how a teenager was regularly being maltreated by her guardian. Two investigators, Barr. Awele Ideal and Comrade Patrick Ochei were detailed as members of the committee to investigate the matter and take immediate action as deemed appropriate. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the girl was indeed abused but couldn’t admit so out of fear.
