The governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has extended warm felicitations to the people of Bauchi State and all Nigerians on Democracy Day, observed on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
In a message by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed joined fellow Nigerians in celebrating 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.
The governor recognised the sacrifices of Nigeria’s past heroes and the people’s collective resolve to uphold the principles of freedom, justice, and accountability.
Governor Mohammed noted that Democracy Day, a public holiday observed nationwide, is a solemn reflection on the country’s journey toward democratic rule, civil liberties, and the supremacy of the rule of law.
He paid tribute to those who stood resolute against tyranny and made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuing democratic freedom.
The Governor commended the resilience and steadfastness of Nigerians, whose commitment continues to nurture and strengthen the nation’s democratic foundations.
He also acknowledged the vital roles played by past and present leaders, civil society actors, and ordinary citizens in advancing democratic values across the country.
While emphasising that democracy goes beyond periodic elections, Governor Mohammed stated that it must translate into tangible improvements in citizens’ lives.
He highlighted that under his leadership, Bauchi State has recorded significant progress across multiple sectors, reflecting the transformative power of focused and inclusive governance anchored in democratic ideals.
He affirmed that these developmental strides stand as a testament to democracy’s gains and his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, good governance, and people-centred policies.
