A former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has thrown his weight behind the demolition of shanties by Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
Madumere described the governor’s action as ” laudable, highly commendable, holistic and dynamic, as this will go some way to address the criminalities emanating from these shanties.”
He spoke while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
According to him, this move represents responsible and responsive governance as no government will watch criminal elements take over the space in the name of erecting shanties.
Prince Madumere urged the citizenry to support the governor’s excellent performance and move to clear the state of shanties for the development and sustainability of the state.
“This administration under the leadership of Senator Hope Uzodimma has performed marvellously in dismantling shanties and dislodging criminal elements. This is apt, instructive and quite commendable, as it will go a long way in restoring holistic peace and tranquillity in the state.” He called on the citizenry to support the move geared towards arresting insecurity.
Prince Madumere highlighted that reports indicated that these shanties were breeding grounds for nefarious activities, which pose a threat to lives and property within these vicinities.
The former deputy governor eulogized Governor Uzodimma for his timely intervention in sustaining a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive in the state.
Prince Madumere called on the populace, president generals, traditional rulers, and stakeholders to collaborate with the state government to flush out crime and criminality in their various communities.
He said, “We all have roles to play in building an egalitarian society, where everyone matters. We must contribute positively by being our brothers’ keeper. The government must be supported in its quest to build a state of our collective dreams and aspirations.”
