DEPOWA Lauded Over Support For Fallen Heroes’ Widows

The South-South Women Empowerment Forum (SSWEF) has commended the president of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Oghogho Musa, for reaching out to widows of fallen heroes in the region.

As part of activities marking the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Mrs Musa donated food items to 120 widows at the headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe in Yenagoa.

Also, widows of some fallen heroes in Rivers State, numbering about 150, received palliatives from DEPOWA at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt.

The group in a press release signed by the president, Mrs Michelle Amakiri and secretary, Dr. Eno Akpan said the various initiatives of DEPOWA is a big boost to ongoing military operations across the country.

The South-South women said with the various initiatives, troops are being encouraged to give their best for their country.

They said, “We will continue to pray for safe return of our troops to their families. Their sacrifices for our country are invaluable and will not be forgotten. Anything done to encourage them is a plus for the war against insurgency.

“We also commend the President of the Defence and Police Officers Wife’s Association and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Oghogho Musa for her engagement with other stakeholders who are bringing in different forms of support to widows of fallen heroes and families of serving personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“With what is being done, our troops are aware that not just the Armed Forces, other Nigerians appreciate what they are doing to return peace and stability to troubled spots in the country.”

Recently, Promiseland, a real estate firm, in conjunction with DEPOWA, presented plots of land to families and widows of fallen Nigerian heroes.
