The Deputy Senate President (DSP), Barau Jibrin, has donated 1,000 operational motorcycles to the Kano State Police Command.
During the event on Saturday at the premises of the State Police Command, the deputy senate president expressed commitment to battling crimes at community levels in the state.
“I will not say anything without thanking the officers and men of the police force, along with their colleagues in the DSS for the way they are working to ensure peace reigns in Kano State.
“Indeed, Kano State is one of the few states in the entire northwest region that peace reigns, where there is no banditry, and other acts of terrorism.
“We thank you for allowing us to sleep with our two eyes closed. God Almighty has also made a favour to us in Kano for which we say our gratitude to Him and indeed to thank you for your job,” he stated.
The Deputy Senate President also promised to continue to support the police in the state and ensure that every police personnel has an operational vehicle.
The DSP explained that he is beginning with the Kano North Senatorial Zone, which will be given 700 operational motorcycles while the remaining 300 will be for the command.
From Kano North Senatorial Zone he promised to also provide for Kano Central Senatorial Zone in two months time from where he will move to the Kano South Senatorial Zone.
“I will ensure that all police in Kano have operational vehicles, and I am going to do that insha Allah.” he declared.
He called on the public to play their role in supporting the police as the business of security is the duty of everyone not just the security personnel.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Kano State police commissioner CP Salman Dogo thanked the Deputy Senate President for the donation.
“This unwavering support and generosity underscore the critical importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and Government leadership in advancing our collective mission of serving and safeguarding the people of Kano State.
“The provision of these motorcycles symbolizes more than just a mode of transportation, it represents a tangible investment in the capabilities and morale of our dedicated police officers, enhancing their operational efficiency and response readiness.
“The significance of this initiative extends far beyond the motorcycles themselves, it speaks volumes to the profound impact that strategic partnerships and community support can have on the effectiveness and vitality of our law enforcement efforts,” he said.
