In his address, Dikko underscored the significance of the OSOM Games, highlighting its role in promoting unity and camaraderie among Nigeria’s security agencies. He acknowledged the historical contributions of these agencies to the nation’s sporting achievements, stating, “We recognise the role the security agencies have played in our rich sporting history by producing some of the country’s finest athletes who have represented Nigeria proudly at various international competitions.”

He further noted that these agencies continue to have the potential to develop top-tier athletes, affirming the NSC’s commitment to hosting this year’s edition of the Games. “Under the RHINSE initiative, mandated by Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we are dedicated to ensuring regular competitions that will help discover new talents and keep our athletes actively engaged,” he added.

Dikko elaborated on the broader vision of the OSOM Games, declaring it more than just a competition. “This event serves as a crucial building block in our initiative to reform the Nigerian sports sector. Our aim is to transform sports from a field of consumption to one of production, placing greater emphasis on local competitions like these.”

In addition, the Chairman took the opportunity to reassure athletes that plans are underway for the infrastructural revamping of the nation’s sports facilities, including a comprehensive overhaul of the Abuja National Stadium, particularly its pitch. “We believe that infrastructural development and athlete growth go hand in hand, and the Sports Commission is fully committed to making this work,” he affirmed.
