Real Madrid’s new signing Yan Diomande has made a remarkable declaration of loyalty to manager José Mourinho, insisting he is ready to give everything for the Portuguese coach following his blockbuster €140 million move from RB Leipzig.

The 19-year-old Ivorian forward completed a seven-year contract with the Spanish giants earlier this week after Madrid agreed a deal worth up to €140 million (£120 million) for the highly rated teenager.

Diomande, speaking in comments reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Friday, said players naturally develop a strong bond with Mourinho and are willing to go to extraordinary lengths for him.

“When you play for José Mourinho, you want to DIE for him. I am ready to die for him,” Diomande said.

The statement underlines the confidence the youngster has in Mourinho’s leadership as he prepares to begin a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Despite the huge transfer fee attached to his arrival, Diomande insists he is not feeling the pressure to immediately justify Madrid’s substantial investment.

“They spent a lot of money because they believe in me; why will I be scared?” he said.

“I’m not scared; I feel no pressure. I will do what I do, and God will do the rest.”

The €140m agreement with Leipzig represents one of the biggest transfers in Real Madrid’s history and reflects the club’s belief in Diomande’s potential.

The teenager will now face the challenge of adapting to the demands and expectations of one of the biggest clubs in world football, while competing for a place in Mourinho’s plans.

However, his early comments suggest Diomande is embracing rather than fearing the pressure that comes with his price tag.

With a seven-year commitment secured, Madrid will hope the Ivorian can develop into a long-term star and repay the confidence shown in him by the club and Mourinho.
