National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Yola Operations Office, has launched ‘Operation Eagle Eye’ to enhance road safety and reduce traffic-related emergencies during the festive season and beyond.
The exercise, conducted by Mr Giwa Siman Kurutsi, representing the head of Operations, is an annual event designed to complement the efforts of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FESC) in ensuring that motorists and other road users are adequately sensitised to drive responsibly, especially during periods of increased traffic.
He stated that the primary objective of the operation is to minimise road traffic crashes and related emergencies, particularly during the yuletide season when vehicular movement is usually heavy.
Motorists and commuters were sensitised on safe driving practices, adherence to traffic regulations, and the importance of patience and caution on the roads.
NEMA reassures the public of its commitment to proactive disaster risk reduction and urges all road users to cooperate with relevant authorities to ensure a safe and accident-free festive season.
