Dismantle Terrorists Network Now, Northern Christian Elders Tell FG

Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has expressed grief, outrage and condemnation of the brutal killing of citizens at Anguwan Rukuba in Jos, Plateau State.

NOSCEF said all hands must be on deck to identify, confront and dismantle the networks of those who derive pleasure in the killing of innocent citizens.

The forum said such wanton bloodshed is unacceptable and must not continue unchecked.

NOSCEF chairman, Elder Sunday Oibe, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the recurring pattern of attacks and serial killings on the Plateau is deeply troubling and called for urgent, decisive, and sustained intervention.

The statement called on relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to fish out the perpetrators of this atrocious crime and bring them to justice.

Oibe warned that the continued failure to hold offenders accountable only emboldens criminal elements and perpetuates a cycle of violence that threatens the peace and stability of the region.

The statement urged the government at all levels, security institutions, community leaders, and all stakeholders to work collaboratively and proactively to put an end to these recurring acts of violence.

NOSCEF, however, called on residents of Plateau State to remain calm but vigilant, and to continue to uphold the principles of peace, unity, and lawful conduct even in the face of provocation.

The statement reads in parts, “Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) expresses its deepest grief, outrage, and unequivocal condemnation of the senseless and brutal killings of innocent citizens at Anguwan Rukuba in Jos, Plateau State.The attack, which occurred on Sunday at about 7:30 p.m., claimed the lives of over 20 persons—reportedly 27, with many others sustaining varying degrees of injuries”

The forum added, “That this heinous act was carried out on Palm Sunday, a sacred day of reflection and peace for Christians, underscores its provocative and barbaric nature. It is a direct assault not only on human life but also on the values of coexistence, tolerance, and religious harmony that have long defined the people of Jos and Plateau State at large”

“NOSCEF strongly condemns this dastardly act of violence against innocent and defenceless citizens. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may justice prevail. The time to act is now. Enough is enough,” the statement said.
