Akwuba is currently battling for his life.

Mr. Ogbonna, who made the call in Abakaliki, said that Mr. Akwuba and his wife went to their farmland to harvest some cassava when a certain man, he claims, hails from Akpoha, shot him on his left leg while harvesting the cassava.

The Development Centre coordinator said that Mr. Boniface Akwuba and his wife went to harvest cassava at their farm, a certain man whom the victim and wife identified through his intonation as an Akpoha person attacked them with a locally made gun.

“It was through the effort of a motorbike person who came to assist them convey their cassava home that the victim was taken to a Medical Centre at Amasiri.

“I immediately drew the attention of the Coordinator of Akpoha Development Centre to the incident and forwarded the pictures of the victim at the hospital bed receiving treatment to him. I also sent the pictures to the honourable Member representing our state Constituency.

”The Councillor from Ezeke ward reported the matter to the police at Afikpo, and the police visited the victim at the Medical Centre. As I speak to you now the victim is still lying critically injured at the hospital where efforts are being made to remove pellets from his body.

” Whosoever that insinuated that the incident was stage managed should make efforts to reach the Nigerian police that are investigating the matter. The victim is alive, as soon as he becomes stable and starts talking, we will make effort for him to speak with the media directly.
