Minister of labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige has said the diversification policy of Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) into agriculture is a right step, saying it would help the association against dependence on checkup dues.
Ngige who was represented by Comrade Nnamdi Enuah, controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment Lagos State, stated this when he commissioned ASSBIFI Multipurpose Suites and Events Centre, at Alausa area of the state added that the step taken by ASSBIFI in having a large multipurpose suites and events centre at the heart of Lagos Business District will make the association to remain jobs creator.
He said, “This centre is a product of sincere leadership, prudent and accountability which will be a good legacy for this union and act as encouragement to other unions.”
Also, ASSBIFI president, Comrade Oyinkan Olasanoye, in her welcome address said the centre will create at least 50 additional jobs.
She said the construction of the centre was made possible by the cooperation from members, pointing out that ASSBIFI did not take any loan for the start and completion of the centre.
“ASSBIFI Suites and Events Centre was designed to provide accommodation, spa, boardrooms, conference halls and relaxation place for stakeholders. It will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for over 50 Nigerians when fully operational. “It is an income source diversification strategy.”
