The Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari, Torusaramapiri), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has called for greater unity among the people of Kula Kingdom, urging an end to internal disputes and litigation to pave the way for sustainable development and progress.
Dokubo-Asari made the call during a courtesy visit by the people of Adumu-Ama Community in Kula Kingdom, led by their traditional ruler, HRH (Engr.) Barlow Harrison Adokiye, Ogoye Kala-Amafia IX, to his residence in Degema, Rivers State.
The delegation also included the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Kula Kingdom, HRH King Sir (Dr.) Kroma Amabibi Eleki, JP, Sara XIV, alongside chiefs, community leaders, women and youth representatives.
Speaking during the visit, King Adokiye expressed appreciation to Dokubo-Asari for his support and guidance, which he said contributed significantly to his successful coronation in 2024.
He described the Kalabari monarch as a father figure whose influence and encouragement were instrumental to his emergence on the ancestral throne of Adumu-Ama.
The monarch further sought stronger collaboration with Dokubo-Asari, noting that his administration would continue to benefit from the elder statesman’s counsel in promoting peace, unity and development within the community.
According to him, enhanced cooperation between Adumu-Ama and Elem Kalabari would foster sustainable growth and strengthen ties across Kula Kingdom.
Also speaking, King Kroma Amabibi Eleki thanked Dokubo-Asari for his continued goodwill and support for the people of Kula, describing Elem Kalabari as the ancestral cradle of the Kalabari people.
He explained that the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration between Kula Kingdom and Elem Kalabari for mutual development and progress.
Responding, Dokubo-Asari lamented what he described as the prolonged neglect and underdevelopment of the oil-rich Kula Kingdom by successive governments despite its enormous contributions to the nation’s economy.
He noted that the challenges facing the kingdom had been compounded by years of internal disagreements, chieftaincy disputes and divisions among stakeholders.
“There should be an end to litigation. It is time for all warring factions and well-meaning people of Kula to engage in introspection, put an end to internal wranglings and embrace peace for the progress and posterity of Kula Kingdom,” he said.
The traditional ruler stressed that unity and cooperation among the people remain critical to attracting development and addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting the kingdom.
Among those present during the visit was the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, an indigene of Kula Kingdom.
