The outspoken stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, has called on Governor Abba Yusuf to stop denying knowledge of the recently revealed medical supplies contract, where 44 local government councils were instructed to pay about N9 million each to one Novomed company owned by the nephew of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)’s leader Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He stated this in a statement yesterday in Kano while responding to another statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, saying he is unaware of the contract.
He stated that he had mentioned earlier that Rabiu Kwankwaso is the governor of the state by proxy and is in charge of the state.
He further explained that if it is true that Yusuf is in charge of the state, this matter is not to be investigated but should rather seek legal redress against the whistleblower, Bello Galadanci.
“If you do not know about this deal, then you have confirmed what I said earlier: Rabiu Kwankwaso is the state governor and not you. You are only his errand boy.
“Also, if you are aware of it, then an investigation should not be the answer, but you should seek legal redress against the allegations before the competent court of law.
“Your claim that you are not aware only confirms that you are not the governor in charge, but Rabiu Kwankwaso is. Whatever you are doing is done according to the instructions and commands of your boss.
“We can agree that you are unaware of the contract, but your boss is aware. We don’t want you to deceive the public,” Kwankwaso stated.
Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso further explained that if Governor Yusuf should say he is aware of the contract and the money is paid to the accounts of his boss’s nephew, with evidence of transactions displayed by the whistleblower, then he has a hand in the dirty deal.
