The final places for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be settled on Tuesday, 31 March, as four nations battle for qualification in a decisive play-off tournament staged across Mexico.
Two high-stakes fixtures will take place in Guadalajara and Monterrey, bringing the qualification race for the expanded 48-team tournament to its dramatic conclusion ahead of the opening match on 11 June 2026.
In Guadalajara, the Democratic Republic of Congo will face Jamaica at the Estadio Guadalajara, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 local time. Jamaica secured their place in the final pathway after edging New Caledonia 1-0, while DR Congo advanced automatically based on their strong standing in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking.
The winner of that encounter will complete Group K, joining Colombia, Portugal and tournament debutants Uzbekistan. Matches in the group are set to be played across Atlanta, Guadalajara, Houston, Miami and Mexico City.
Later in Monterrey, Bolivia will take on Iraq at the Estadio Monterrey in the second decisive fixture at 21:00 local time. Bolivia progressed after a 2-1 victory over Suriname, while Iraq also earned automatic entry into the play-off final via their FIFA ranking.
The victorious side will move into Group I alongside France, Norway and Senegal, with fixtures scheduled in Boston, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia and Toronto between 16 and 26 June.
Meanwhile, attention will also turn to Europe earlier on the same day, where the remaining qualification spots from the continent will be decided. Bosnia and Herzegovina host four-time champions Italy in Zenica, Czechia welcome Denmark in Prague, Kosovo face Türkiye in Pristina, while Sweden meet Poland in Solna.
The outcomes will complete the full line-up for what promises to be the largest and most diverse World Cup in history.
