Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdumalik Sarkindaji, has asked the newly confirmed six commissioners nominated by Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, to use their grassroots experience to drive the New Niger Development Agenda of the incumbent administration.
Sarkindaji, who spoke after the confirmation of the nominees, said the need to cut short their recess had become necessary because the screening of the commissioners was a state matter which needs urgent attention.
He said that now that the campaign season had kicked off, “our party, the APC, will need the wealth of experience of the new commissioners” he described as ‘grassroots politicians.
He said the commissioners should count themselves lucky to have been appointed and therefore urged them to key into the “New Niger Agenda” of the administration, as it was a “greater call to the service of the state.”
The speaker said, “Your experience is highly needed to drive the New Niger Agenda of this administration at this crucial moment. The governor did not make a mistake in choosing you because he knows you can deliver due to your track records.”
LEADERSHIP observed that the member ended the one-month recess to screen and confirm the commissioners nominated by the state governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, last week for appointment into the state executive council
The nominees screened and confirmed by the assembly at its emergency plenary were Dr Lucky Barau from Gurara local government, Hon. Isah Wakili from Bosso local government, Dr Isah Adamu from Kontagora Local government, Hon. Emmanuel Alamu from Magama local government, Hon. Shuaibu Saidu Kaboji from Mashegu Local government and Mallam Mohammed Danladi Garba from Borgu local government. Details later
The session, witnessed by the nominees’ supporters, was not rigorous, as the nominees were asked to “take a bow and leave” despite their track records of achievements and political participation.
