Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Hamza Durya, following his abduction at his residence in Durya village recently.
The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Kano State commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, comrade Ibrahim Waiya.
According to the statement, security agencies were swiftly mobilised after the incident to secure his release and track down the perpetrators.
“In a swift and coordinated operation, operatives of the DSS, Kano State Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers, who sustained bullet wounds during the operation,” the statement said.
The Kano State Government described the development as a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and commended the security agencies for their professionalism and prompt response.
It noted that the operation underscores the effectiveness of current security strategies being implemented across the state’s 44 local government areas.
The government also acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Yusuf in strengthening the operational capacity of security agencies.
While reaffirming its commitment to sustaining peace and security, the government urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to relevant authorities.
