Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has rejoiced with the Christian faithful in the state, Nigeria, and across the world as they celebrate the 2026 Easter.
The governor described the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the triumph of light over darkness.
He implored Christians to sustain prayers for the restoration of peace and security throughout the country, urging them to maintain hope for a brighter Nigeria.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, in a statement on Sunday, said Governor Alia encouraged Christians to emulate the qualities of love, sacrifice, forgiveness and endurance, “which Jesus Christ personified and illustrated remarkably during His earthly ministry”
According to the statement, “We must strengthen the bond of brotherhood and good neighbourliness that citizens of a cohesive state and country should share.
“I urge all Christians in the state to continue to live peacefully with one another, playing their part to make the state and Nigeria a beautiful place to reside.”
The Governor restated his administration’s commitment to adopting “all necessary measures to effectively overcome challenges bedevilling the state, assuring that under his administration, the state will emerge better”
”He wishes all Christians in the state, country and around the world celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a Happy Easter”, the statement said.
