Hundreds of Ebira indigenes gathered on Aso Road in Mararaba, Nasarawa State yesterday morning to welcome His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yunusa Bello Aliba, who was recently confirmed as the Odeyiani Ohinoyi, Ani-Ebira of Nasarawa State, by the Ohinoyi of Ebira land.
His confirmation came after three years of tussle for the position, which left members of the tribe without a leader in the New Karu Local Government Area of the state.
As early as 9 am, various Ebira groups had assembled in front of Shafa Filling Station along Aso Road in Mararaba to welcome the chief.
When the entourage of the Odeyiani was sighted, members of the tribe’s various groups escorted the vehicles to the palace of the newly confirmed chief, where prayers were offered for a successful reign.
In a chat with journalists, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yunusa Bello Aliba, expressed happiness over the reception accorded to him and also thanked the Royal Majesty of Ebira land for resolving the dispute that affected the chieftaincy title in Nasarawa State, as well as for confirming him as the Odeyiani of the state.
He called on all Ebira indigenes in the state to remain peaceful and embrace unity in order to build their activities positively and benefit from the good things the state has to offer.
“I will try to ensure that all Ebira people progress positively. There is a lot to be done for my people in Nasarawa State, but this requires all of us working together. I am also ready to ensure that all Ebira people here reach where they are supposed to reach in this land,” he said.
