The Bill is expected to be cited as the Ebonyi State Boundary and Allied Matters Commission (Establishment) and Other Related matters Law 2023.

Giving insight on the bill, the leader of the House, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, expressed worry over the persistent boundary disputes witnessed in the state  which he said has claimed many lives and properties worth billions destroyed.

He maintained that the new law  establishes a commission which will ensure the regular intra and inter communal crises among the different local government areas of the state will be addressed. He urged his colleagues to ensure that the bill was given accelerated passage.

Speaking shortly after the passage of law, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa noted that the state like other states of the Federation has had its share of communal conflicts resulting from border related issues but maintained that the Commission when established would serve as a utility partner in ensuring that border related crises in the state is reduced to its minimum.

The bill was unanimously passed into law by the members present during plenary.
