Ebonyi State government has said it is partnering with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the revitalisation of NIGERCEM and the construction of a railway line that would connect the state with Onitsha, Anambra State and Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A statement by the special assistant to the governor on New Media, Mr Leo Oketa said that Governor Francis Nwifuru dropped the hint during the Tunisia-Africa Investment and Trade Conference in Tunis, Tunisia.
He maintained that the state governor had met with the delegation of the EBRD on the sidelines before the conference adding that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a European Group fostering the transition towards open market-oriented economies and promotes private and entrepreneurial initiative.
He noted that Governor Nwifuru equally sought their partnership for the revitalisation of Nkalagu Cement Industry, NIGERCEM and other development projects in the state.
“This meeting was a baby step to many others yet to come. It clearly points to the governor’s foresight for the economic development of Ebonyi State,” he said.
