Ecobank Transnational Incorporated has posted its unaudited financials for the year ended 31 December 2025, recording a 14 per cent rise in its gross earnings buoyed by expansion in its interest income.

The group reported gross earnings of N4.82 trillion in 2025, up from N4.21 trillion in 2024, with interest and non-interest income both contributing to the expansion.

Revenue climbed to N3.67 trillion, an 18 per cent increase over the prior year.

Interest income, a major driver of Ecobank’s top line, rose to N3.18 trillion, up 15 per cent from N2.75 trillion the previous year, while interest expense increased modestly, supporting a net interest income of N2.14 trillion a 22 per cent rise. Non-interest revenue, including fees, commissions and trading gains, grew by 13 per cent to N1.53 trillion.

After absorbing operating costs, which rose in line with business expansion, and accounting for credit costs, the Group recorded impairment charges on financial assets of N613.26 billion, up 28 per cent from N480.57 billion in 2024. Even after these charges, operating profit after impairment increased 30 per cent to N1.28 trillion, from N986.59 billion.

Ecobank’s profit before tax climbed 30 per cent to N1.28 trillion, compared with N986.70 billion a year earlier. After tax, profit attributable to shareholders rose 29 per cent to N959.38 billion from N742.03 billion in 2024.

On the balance sheet, the Group’s total assets expanded to N49.44 trillion, up 14 per cent from N43.30 trillion at 31 December 2024. This growth reflects increases in loans and advances, as well as broader investment assets. Total liabilities grew to N31.44 trillion, from N26.16 trillion a year earlier, supporting a larger deposit base and other funding lines.

Operating expenses remained well controlled relative to revenue growth, rising by around 8 per cent to N1.77 trillion. Staff costs and administrative expenses reflected ongoing investments in human capital and technology infrastructure.
