Fans of Eddie Murphy and his 1984 and 1987 smash action hits Beverly Hills Cop I & II are in for a treat, as the fourth installment of the film is set to premiere on Netflix July 3.
As Murphy’s second action film, which saw him play the lead role, Beverly Hills was a global hit when it premiered in 1984, proving the actor a protagonist worthy star in the role of the street-smart, clever and fast-talking Detroit detective, Axel Foley.
In the first film, Foley takes his skills to Beverly Hills when he connects the murder of his friend to multimillionaire Victor Midland. In the second franchise, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Foley returned to Beverly Hills to investigate events and people behind the near-fatal shooting of his friend Chief Bogomil.
While Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) weren’t as successful as the first two installments, and missing John Ashton’s character John Taggart, it had its charm, and Murphy was still as charming as ever.
With the confirmation of a release date on Netflix, the long-awaited fourth installment Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Murphy is back after decades of comedy and dramatic roles Dolemite Is My Name, Coming To America, You People and Candy Cane Lane.
Film trailer shows Foley (Murphy) visiting his old buddy John Taggart (John Ashton) at Beverly Hills station for help after he gets a call Taggart’s ex-partner Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) that he is in trouble. The original trio teams up with Foley’s daughter Jane (Taylour Paige) and his new partner (Joseph Gordon Lewitt) to turn up the heat and uncover a new conspiracy.
Netizen fans were agog, and felt Billy Rosewood’s, “God, I missed you, Axel,” with the film’s signature songs music ‘Axel F’ by Harold Faltermeyer and Neutron Dance by Pointer Sisters’ blasting loudly at the action scenes.
