All is now set for the much anticipated election into the leadership of Benue State Football Association (BSFA) scheduled for Saturday June 17, 2023 in Makurdi, the state capital.
Already, top chairmanship contestant, Barr. Paul Edeh, has continued to engage stakeholders including the chairmen of various 23 Local Government Football Councils, top government officials as well as partners ahead of the election which will roll in new set of executive.
Among those he met on Friday was Hon. Paul Biam, the Chief of Staff to Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Briefing newsmen shortly after their close door meeting, Barr. Edeh who was accompanied by State Director of Sports, Comrade Philip Ter Nongu, Vice Chairman Lobi Stars Dominic Iorfa, Ex-international and Chairman Honey Badgers Abdul Sule, among other, said he met the governor’s Chief of Staff to brief him of his vision to transform the state football.
He said, “Today I came to pay a courtesy visit to the chief of staff on my aspiration to head Benue state FA. The meeting was cordial as I briefed him of my vision to transform football in the state which will be centred around the FIFA forward developmental programme which includes more investment, more impact and oversight.
“I also solicited the support of the state government towards ensuring a cordial relationahip with the state FA.
“We also discussed about the Governor’s Cup which I intend to revamp when elected as the FA Chairman.”
Up to 11 aspirants are jostling for positions in the upcoming FA election.
Ahead of the contest, Rt. Hon Mrs Margaret Icheen, outgoing BSFA Chairperson staged a football league final on Friday, being the last for the administration she led meritoriously in the past four-year period and 12 years overall.
Rt. Hon Icheen is currently a member of the Nigeria Football Federation executive board.
The state league is being sponsored for the past years by Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) with Barr. Edeh as its Founder and President.
