The publicity director of Senator Monday Okpebholo’s Governorship Campaign Council, Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, has commended Hon. Philip Shaibu for openly endorsing the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September election.

He was apparently reacting to comments by the PDP deputy director of Asue/Ogie Campaign Organisation Council, Olu Martin, on the former deputy governor (Shaibu) to resign from the PDP while condemning him for describing Ighodalo as an outsider.

Omo-Ojo said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to call on Nigerians and Edo State people in particular, to ignore the irritating and baseless call on the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Honourable Philip Shaibu to resign his membership of the drowning Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), because of his open declaration of support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, candidate of the APC.

“PDP should first suspend His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki and the party’s running mate, Osarodion Ogie for spending the state’s resources to build structure for the Labour Party in Edo State, before the last general election and before and during LP’s primary elections which the duo funded and had planned to produce their stooge.

“It is obvious that PDP is yet to understand the hurricane in their party. Virtually everyone with political relevance has left, and those left are only lying, waiting as undertakers to bury them. Rather than ask Shaibu to resign, the PDP should suspend their outgoing governor, Obaseki, for leading them to political obscurity in Edo State. Comrade Philip Shaibu is an Iroko, a true definition of a homeboy and a political giant in the state, like the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. ”

Continuing, the APC spokesman said, “The only sane thing left for PDP is to join Obaseki and Ighodalo on a pleading tour of the state and beg for forgiveness, especially after last week’s confession by the state government that question papers for the basic examination in the state were leaked to public school teachers in the state, which eventually ended up with maize sellers.

“We are by this statement demanding that Edo State Government should immediately set up an independent panel of enquiry to investigate the circumstances that led to the series of examination questions leakages that have trailed the so-called Edo Best education programme since 2020.”
