Edo Community Association in Kano State has condemned the killing of travellers in Uromi, saying they stood with President Bola Tinubu and the Edo State governor in expressing sympathy with the affected families.

The public relations officer of the association on behalf of their president, Dr. Patrick Agbaror,

urged security agencies to properly investigate the incident and deal with the culprits accordingly.

“The Edo Community Association in Kano strongly sympathises with families of those that lost their lives. We pray at this period of Holy Ramadan, the Almighty Allah will accept our prayers and peace to reign in Nigeria,” he said.

In a related development, the Kano Police Command has called on the general public to disregard news of an attack on some Igbo people in Kano, saying it was false.

The spokesman, SP Haruna Kiyawa, yesterday

urged the public to desist from spreading fake news capable of disrupting peace in the state and the country at large.

“The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the viral news circulating on social media regarding an attack on an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo passengers in Kano is entirely false and misleading.

“We urge members of the public to disregard this fake news and refrain from spreading unverified information, misinformation and hate speech that can cause harm, panic and unrest in the community.

“The Kano State Police Command is committed to maintaining law and order in the state and ensuring the safety and security of all residents, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.

“We have commenced an investigation into the source of this fake news and will take necessary actions to bring those responsible to justice.
