In a bid to stop his arrest over recent violent political activities in the state, the chairman of Esan North-East local government area of Edo State, Hon. Dr. Kelly Inedegbor, has obtained an interim court injunction stopping the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and his agents from arresting him pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.

In the suit marked B/229M/2024 between Inedegbor as applicant and the Inspector General of Police as the respondent before a vacation judge of the Edo State High Court, Justice Igho Braimoh, the local government chairman in the enrolment order, was granted an interim Order of Court to restrain the respondent from arresting and detaining or take any action that would infringe on his right to personal liberty “pending the hearing and determination of substantive application in this suit.”

The case came up for hearing on Thursday and the application was brought before the judge by Carrington Omokaro Esq of the Olayiwola Afolabi (SAN) & Co.

“This Interim injunction abates after 14 days. The Respondent, Inspector General of Police should be put on Notice. He adjourned the case to the 26th day of September, 2024.”
