Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has said an effective judiciary is closely connected to improved security of lives and property, business environment, and confidence in investors.
Otti stated this at the inauguration of one of the newly constructed 17 court complexes in the 17 local government areas of the state in Umueńe, Isialangwa South local government area.
“We consider an effective judicial system as important to the development matrix as quality road networks and efficient power supply systems.”
According to him, the summary of his massage is that never again will the judicial officers operate from structures that are below their standing and stature.
He urged the officers to discharge their duties without any form of bias or favour in the spirit of the new Abia the people had long been clamouring for.
In an address, the state chief judge, Justice Lilian Abai described the complex as a milestone achievement as well as a symbol of justice and hope.
She noted that the court will strengthen justice delivery and speed up judicial processes in the state, and lauded the governor for embarking on the project.
Contributing, the attorney general and commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN, said the administration was building not just physical structure but enduring institution.,
The complex is fitted with digital connectivity, independent power system, water supply facilities, standard IT tools, facility maintenance and management services among others.
