Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Group, Ebi Egbe has given a pat on back to Rivers United for staging a comeback to the continent despite not retaining the NPFL league trophy at the Lagos Super 6.
Egbe was also full of praise for the Rivers state commissioner of sports Barrister Chris Green who he noted personally motivated the team in a special way.
Egbe pointed out that Rivers fought till the very last minute in the game against Enyimba and played very well in the match which ended in a draw and pushed Rivers to the third position on the Super 6 log which was good enough to see them secure a Caf confederation cup ticket.
“Rivers United had a good outing in Lagos and deserve a lot of plaudits. I m happy they are back in the continent and Barrister Chris Green in particular did a yeoman’s job in motivating the team. He is a football administrator per excellence,” He said.
Egbe added that he would want to see Rivers United prosecute their continental campaign at their Port Harcourt base rather than play away from home as they did this term.
“It is time for Rivers United to play at home. All that Caf demands is the right playing surface which I am confident Rivers state can fix before the continental campaign gets underway.”
Egbe expressed joy that Rivers United and other teams at the Super 6 enjoyed playing at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan which was constructed by Monimichelle.
It would be noted that both Enyimba and Remo Stars who are featuring in the Caf champions league have Hybrid synthetic pitches constructed by Monimichelle Sports.
