Ekiti 2026: Ex-Deputy Guber Candidate Joins APC

A former deputy governorship candidate of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Stephen Abiodun Ojo, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state yesterday ahead of the next year’s governorship election.

The ANPP chieftain said he led over 3000 of his followers to join APC at an event in Ilupeju Ekiti, in Oye local government area of the state.

Ojo, who described his joining APC as a homecoming for him and his supporters, lauded Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for his developmental projects across the state, adding that his giant strides have left indelible marks.

“It’s like coming home and one cannot but join a progressive train to contribute my quota to the development of the party and the state.

“I am happy to join the train of his excellency and I want to assure the party of my commitment, loyalty and love for thr BAO second term agenda. I have come with my over 3000 followers to join the APC and I can boastly announce that the party is on course to win the next governorship election with a landslide victory” he concluded.

Addressing the gathering, former APC chairman in the state, High Chief Jide Awe, assured the decampees of equal opportunities in the party

He also thanked them for joining the APC saying as it is evident that the good works of Governor Oyebanji is attracting even members of the opposition to the state.

“Otunba Stephen Ojo is a golden name and with what we see here today, the acceptance is massive and it is testament to the fact that he has a good reputation in his community and such personality is a good addition to our great party”.

Also, the state publicity secretary of APC, Segun Dipe officially accepted Otunba Ojo and his followers into the party.

Conveying the goodwill of the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the state chairman, Hon. Sola Elesin and other stakeholders of the party, Dipe maintained that the AlPC is a party for all and there is level playing field for all either new or old members.

“On behalf of the National party chairman, I welcome you and your followers to this great party. I want to assure you that you have come to the right party and the welfarism of you and your followers remains our top priority. The progressives is your home and you can be rest assured of the party is on course for the repositioning of the state.”

He added that APC is a home for all and party members are treated as one.
