Ekiti Court Remands Lady In Prison For Allegedly Inflicting Injury On Boyfriend’s Genital

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital has ordered a young lady, Joy Ikoja, to be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly inflicting an injury on the manhood of her boyfriend, one Ibrahim Usman.

The 20-year-old woman, was brought before the court by the police in Ekiti State over the allegation that she unlawfully tore Usman’s scrotal sack.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeboye Adesegun told the court that the defendant committed the offence around 8p.m on April 12, 2025, at the Irona area of Ado-Ekiti.

Adegun said, “The defendant on the same date, time and place, did conduct herself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace in the society.

“The offence committed is punishable under Sections 186, 255 256(a) and 181(d) of Criminal Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021″.

He urged the court not to grant bail to the defendant, saying she might likely jump bail.

Counsel to the defendant, David Ogbede, however urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying she would not jump bail, as she was presumed innocent under the law.

In his ruling, Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti and subsequently adjourned the case till April 22 for hearing.
