The Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Hon. Yemi Adaramodu, has described the judgement of National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which validated his election as fair.
The election tribunal sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State had dismissed the petition filed by Senator Biodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge the victory of Senator Adaramodu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25National Assembly election.
Adaramodu who stated that he never expected that anybody will contest his election said the exercise was peaceful with no violence or brigandage recorded in all units, wards, local governments that made up the senatorial district.
The Senate spokesman while reacting to the Tribunal judgement that went in his favour said, “For me it is a fair verdict because it was very obvious that our people of the Ekiti South Senatorial District voted for me overwhelmingly and when you look at the result of the election in the available six local government areas, I won all the local governments and overwhelmingly for that matter and then the difference is quite very clear.
“But that does not mean that those who were dissatisfied cannot seek redress, the redress was sought and then the judiciary gave its verdict. I think and I believe that the verdict is very fair, good and excellent enough for us to know that the exercise of February 25 that people of Ekiti South voted for me, Yemi Adaramodu as their own Senator was actually not a farce but it was an omnipotent truism that they preferred me.”
Adaramodu who posited that the judiciary has done its job said, “Going to the Tribunal is part of the electoral process, when you look at the electoral Act of 2022. It means that you don’t resort to self help if you feel dissatisfied with the results of an election, the procedures and processes, you can go to Court which is the Tribunal and then ventilate and you will get redress.
“So my opponent who is my own sister has gone to court after the national assembly election of February 25, 2023 because of the result which she was dissatisfied with and the judiciary has given its verdict.”
The federal lawmaker who noted that he had impacted on the life of the people as a House of Representatives member said, “I touched every town and village in Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 and there was no promise that I made that I didn’t fulfill.
“So having that in mind for our people and bearing that in mind for people from the other Constituency which I was not representing then that I am a promise keeper and that my performance speak volume and so they came out to vote for me and that was it and then the result was confirmed and affirmed by the judiciary.”
