Governor of Kaduna State Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has tasked Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) to uphold professionalism while discharging their duties.
The governor stated this during the weekend in Kaduna at the investiture of the 16th branch chairman of AMLSN.
El-Rufai who was represented by the deputy director medical services, Ministry of Health, Kaduna, Mrs Felicia Anthony Kurah described AMLSN as a key player to the growth of the health sector in Nigeria.
According to the governor, AMLSN has always been in the forefront of strengthening the health sector in the state.
“These are sets of people who continuously work tirelessly to save lives of others, and this was clearly displayed especially during the Covid-19, where the health workers showed some level of patriotism in saving the nation,” he said.
In his paper presentation titled, “Leadership and Professional Development: The Approach In The 21st Century,” Comrade Audu Amba, said, the roles and expectations of leaders is to adhere to statutes guiding the operations.
Amba who was represented by the director, administration and staff training, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), added that every leader must respect, maintain and enforce strict compliance to the constitution and standing orders guiding all members to ensure that the tenets of the organisation are well kept.
The newly elected chairman of AMLSN, Kaduna branch, Caleb Kantiyok unveiled a one-point agenda, prioritising the welfare of the members.
“We are going to set up AMLSN Kaduna State Branch welfare committee to always look into the welfare of members and advise us on what to do, just as we planned to have a Research and Training Fund Committee which shall access funds for the purpose of training research,” he said.
He however, promised to maintain and improve on the unity of health practitioners, and end acrimonious relations that exist amongst health professionals in the state.
“I want to assure us all that the restoration team, which is the driver, shall not stop until we fully restore AMLSN Kaduna State,” he said.
