The Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has charged the management of AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU), Ganmo in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State on innovation.
This is even as the monarch expressed confidence that the new private university would soon attain global status, in view of the world-class facilities and calibre of manpower in the institution.
Sulu-Gambari gave the charge when the proprietor led the management of the University to his palace in Ilorin on a courtesy visit.
The Emir charged the proprietor and the authorities of the institution to be more proactive, innovative, focused and consistent in the task of fast-tracking the attainment of the goals of establishing the institution.
While describing education as an antidote to poverty and security challenges, the Emir praised Alh AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin for establishing the university in his ancestral hometown.
This, he said would increase indigent students’ access to world-class university education in their localities.
Emir of Ilorin enjoined other affluent people to use their endowments in ensuring socio-economic emancipation of the people of Ilorin Emirate in particular, and Kwara State in general.
Earlier, the chancellor of the University, Alh Toyin, accompanied by the pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, and the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulRauf Ambali, said they were in the palace to seek royal blessings and advice of the foremost monarch.
