Chairman, Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal, Kalu Nwoke has told residents of the state that people’s environment impacts their health and wellness.
Nwoke made the comment while speaking to LEADERSHIP after monitoring the state’s November monthly environmental sanitation exercise in some strategic locations in the capital, Umuahia, last Saturday.

His words: Healthy environment contributes immensely to healthy living and wellness, while the reverse inevitably leads to many health challenges including deadly ones.”

“This is the most reason we must all take up the task of keeping our environment clean primarily for our own sake and others to avoid the consequences,” he emphasised.

He reminded them of the existence and operation of the state’s mobile environmental sanitation court, adding that “as they say, to be for warned is to be armed.”

The member representing Ohafia South constituency also noted the need for them to protect their homes, offices, worship, business places and their environment against fire outbreak.

“You’ill recall that our governor, Alex Otti, on assumption of office declared a state of emergency on sanitation and the action is paying off,” the chairman added
