The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, has admonished Nigerian government at all levels to learn from the Chinese on issues of book series, which he said can help in the development of the country.
The Chinese envoy said this during the donation of the Rejuvenation book series Gifting Ceremony in Nigeria by Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, held at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja recently.
The event was organised by the embassy and the China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Company Limited.
“The Rejuvenation book series selects important documents related to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and describes in a panoramic manner the unremitting efforts of the Chinese, represented by the Chinese Communists in pursuit of national liberty, development, prosperity and rejuvenation.
“The book series displayed the spirit that has influenced China’s development process, and revealed the historical logic and cultural landscape of the Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation.
“From a poverty-stricken country to the world’s second largest economy, the mystery of China’s development lies in the book series.
“China’s experiences of development tells us that there is no one-size-fits-all model of development in this world. Each nation can only flourish when it finds the path that best suits its national situation,” he said.
According to Jianchun, both China and Nigeria are great countries with large populations and are blessed with rich cultural legacies, adding that both of the two countries are striving for national stability, economic development and social harmony.
Also speaking, the Director, Centre for China Studies, Mr Charles Onunaiju, said the book series was significant as it opened a window in the Nigeria-China cooperation.
Onunaiju admonished Africa and Nigeria in particular, to engage and internalise the benefits of the national rejuvenation and collective self-realisation undertaken by the Chinese.
The book series were donated to the National Library of Nigeria.
