The Kabuki brush is versatile and can be used for liquid and powder foundation, setting powders, highlighters, blush and bronzers. They mainly come with a small handle and are compact and easy travel companions!

2       Paddle Brush For Liquid And Cream Foundation

The flat foundation brushes are the usual paddle shaped brushes best for applying liquid and cream foundation, especially to your face. This type of brush is good at giving full coverage when applying foundation. For a medium to sheer coverage it’s always best to apply a little amount of foundation before swiping the flat brush gently in outward motions over your face, then build up as you go. It is also used for contouring.

These powder brushes are versatile as you can also use them to apply liquid foundation for that sheer look. Due to its lightness, this brush can also be used to apply bronzers to the face. It’s a natural for setting foundation with finishing powders, or to dab on your powder highlighter.

4      Slanted Dome Shaped Concealer Brush

The concealer brush does exactly that – it conceals! Whether it’s for dark circles underneath the eyes or those dark random spots on your face, acne breakouts and so on, the brush would do a good job spreading your choice concealer over the spot with its soft round, and yet dense tip. You can start with a small amount of liquid concealer, apply with heavy strokes then lightly finish it off to make it look natural. There are various types of concealer brushes, for under eye area and your face and for targeting small to big blemishes. I personally like the slanted dome shaped concealer brush for its versatility, it’s also easy to use.

The eye shadow brush gives definition to your eyelids! Having one in your makeup kit can improve your eyeshadow application giving it sophisticated glam!  There are several types depending on what you want to use it for. There’s the fluffy blending, flat shader, angled, crease, dome among others. A good eye shadow brush can also be used as a blender for the colours of your eyeshadow, should you choose to use more than one, especially when transitioning with another colour. It can also be used to highlight the areas underneath your brow line. The Mac 217S is a favourite! It’s a soft oval shaped brush with dense fibres. Good for blending and shading eye shadows.
