The European Union (EU) delegation to Nigeria, in a statement on social media on Tuesday, commiserated with the people and government of Nigeria, saying Buhari’s eight-year tenure as Nigerian President was committed to multilateralism.

“The EU Delegation expresses its deepest condolences to the people and government of Nigeria on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Throughout his service, President Buhari showed commitment to multilateralism and international rule-based order, values shared with the EU. We stand with all Nigerians in commemorating his legacy. #EUNigeria,” the statement said.

Similarly, the Turkish embassy in Abuja on Tuesday also condoled Nigeria and prayed for the repose of late ex-President Buhari’s soul.

Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, at the event marking Turkiye’s Democracy and National Unity Day in Abuja, prayed for repose of Buhari’s soul.

Earlier, the United States Mission in Nigeria, in a statement on X extended US’ deepest condolences to the people of Nigeria on the passing the former Nigerian leader, “whose life was defined by service, discipline, and a commitment to restore integrity to public office.

“His legacy includes his efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and all Nigerians who mourn this loss.”
