The race for Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez is heating up, with a growing list of top European clubs now vying for his signature.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers from Peterborough United last summer, has quickly established himself as one of the most promising defensive talents on the continent following a stellar debut season at Ibrox.

Fernandez’s rapid rise has not gone unnoticed. His commanding performances in the heart of Rangers’ defence have drawn widespread acclaim, and his efforts were recently rewarded with a place in the Scottish Premiership PFA Team of the Season, an honour that has only intensified transfer speculation.

On the international stage, the Nigerian-born defender has also begun to make his mark. He earned his first cap for the Super Eagles last month, featuring in a friendly against Iran, and is widely expected to play a key role for Nigeria in future competitions.

Premier League interest is particularly strong. Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham United, and Everton are all believed to be closely monitoring Fernandez, with scouts regularly attending Rangers matches.

The player’s physicality, composure on the ball, and aerial dominance have made him an attractive target for clubs looking to reinforce their backlines.

Beyond England, German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a move. Meanwhile, Eredivisie giants Ajax and Feyenoord have now officially joined the list of suitors, and Belgian powerhouse Club Brugge is reportedly keeping a close eye on developments.

Rangers, aware of the growing demand, have placed a €35 million valuation on the player.

With the summer transfer window approaching, the Ibrox club may face a tough battle to retain their defensive star as Europe’s elite circle for his signature.
